Born and raised on the mean streets of Durban, Dj Nemesis, AKA Vernon Hayes, started his musical journey when he was 16, when he discovered club music making its debut on the radio stations. It was at this moment that Vernon Hayes knew he wanted to be part of 'The Scene'. He first became interested in the electronic music scene in 1999. In 2001, aged 19, his Dad bought him his first set of turntables. At the age of 27, he was already being touted as Durban's answer to the upcoming tech house genre. He did various warm up sets in clubs hosting major names such as Marco V, Marcos Carnaval, Sander Van Doorn, Lisa Lashes, and many more. In 2011, he achieved his big break when he succeeded in collecting every release in Sebastien Leger's music label, which caught the attention of The Origin Night club. It was after this point when he started getting gigs at big events such as Halloween 2010 With Marco V and Blackout events with Djs like Paul Glazby. After receiving several offers, Dj Nemesis joined The Origin, who helped create awareness with his first internet release, 'Technofunk' in 2011. Though the mix didn't spread as many as he probably would have liked, Dj Nemesis is a fighter and since 2011 has been locked in the studio perfecting his craft. After a few more months the requests for more "Technofunk" series follow up mixes were requested. Nemesis made a total of 4 in the volume which seemed to have catapulted him right into the middle of all the action. Exactly where he wants to be. With a full blown pro level dj career this just wasn't enough for Nemesis as he didn't want to be "just a dj". In 2012 he had established his music page called Djzone mixes on facebook with the intent of setting it up as a platform for young blood djs to become more visible in the music industry. He hosted his first successful "Dj Mix Down" competition and the winner of the event is now a well known psy trance dj as a result of the Djzone Mixes competition translating the success of the music page. Having the ability to be able to play sets for internationally renowned labels such as 330 and progressive psy trance sets at outdoor parties in supporting international artists, it has become evident that Dj Nemesis has a specific sound that can capture a crowd and entertain making sure that his appearance will not be forgotten soon. Suffice to say, the edm scene should be expecting big things from Dj Nemesis in the years to come!
